Obituary for Evelyn Brooks (Skaggs)

Evelyn Brooks of St. Genevieve, Missouri, formerly of Cadet, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at the age of ninety-two. She was born on January 17, 1926 a daughter to the late Marion Skaggs and the late Rosie (Cain) Skaggs.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Buford Brooks; grandson, Jerry Stricklin; and siblings: Hazel Rulo, Henry Skaggs, Sam Skaggs, Jess Skaggs, Sarah Skaggs, Huey Skaggs, and Onie Cury.

Evelyn is survived by her four children: Robert (Pat) Rulo, Essie Stricklin, Gator (Gwen) Brooks, and Anita (Gene) Bishop; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and ten great-great grandchildren; also surviving are many dear nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

Visitation for Evelyn will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 from 4:30 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, June 7, 2018, beginning at 9:00 AM. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, held in the DeClue Memorial Chapel.

Interment and final prayers will be held at New Diggins Cemetery in Mineral Point, Missouri. All funeral arrangements have been cared for by the DeClue Funeral Home.
